It seems BlackBerry
is intent on joining the party of Google Now, Cortana and Siri, and create its
own version of a personal assistant. Today it officially unveiled its version,
named the BlackBerry Assistant (not too original, I know).
The new BB
Assistant has all the standard functions of a personal assistant: Although, BB
hasn’t clarified too much, it can read out emails, send sms and BBMs
(BlackBerry Messenger), launch application, set reminders and more.
Of course, it’s not
available for download right now, and we still don’t know everything about this
new software, but we’ll probably be able to tell you more when BlackBerry
releases its next OS version, BlackBerry 10.3
It will be
available in the company’s next flagship device, the Passport, and we’ll
apparently enable you to perform searches from your home screen, similarly to
Google Now. Expect more details in the future.
