Galaxy S5 'Alpha' revealed in new photos, 4.7' screen confirmed

After rumors of a Galaxy S5 Prime replacing the standard model, it seems we have finally settled for the model to be called Galaxy S5 Alpha. This updated model was initially rumored to have a 5.2' screen, but now reports have said for it to feature a 4.7' screen, and this new batch if photos seems to confirm those dimensions.

Placed next to the S5, this un-official device is certainly smaller, and since rumors are saying 4.7' then that will probably be it. This model should be in direct competition with the upcoming 4.7' iPhone 6, and it's interesting to see how this plays out.

Although the phone might feature a 1080p display, Samsung will probably be playing it wrong if it goes down that road. Since this is an "Alpha" model, it should introduce some improvements over the original S5, otherwise it could be simply called S5 Mini or S5 Compact. So, while we don't have any rumored specs so far, Samsung will be smart to feature a HD screen on this one, with a normal amount of 3 GB of RAM, a 16 MP camera, perhaps an SnapDragon 805, and the rumored Iris Scanner that's said to be featured on the Note 4.

Desgin-wise, this device bears a close similarity to the Galaxy SII. while it seems to share the back of the Galaxy S5, the frame of this device is certainly made of a more-premium metal frame.

While the popularity for this device might be big, it is said to launch in a limited release, making it a "Premium Phone". That further strengthens the rumored of very high-end specs.

Stay tuned as we learn more about this upcoming device!
