A month after its initial
release on June 2nd, when it was made available for the Nexus 5 and
7, now the awaited update is finally coming to the HTC One M8. Owners of the
device might be a little disappointed, since many expected 4.4.3 to be skipped
to 4.4.4 directly, but an update is an update nonetheless.
In addition to all
the standard bug fixes that come with the Android 4.4.3 update, the M8 gets
some carrier-specific, Sprint features, such as Wi-Fi calling and an HD voice
icon. Owners of the Sprint variant who haven’t received the update can expect
it in the next few days, as Sprint is known for taking its sweet ol’ time.
Concerning the
future of the M8 update-wise, HTC has already promised the Android L update to
be released 90 days after the official release of the update, which is expected
sometimes in August, so you can expect tor rock Android L before New Years’. As
to the 4.4.4 version, it’ll probably roll out as another bug-fixing update in
the next few weeks, perhaps in a month or so.
