Taiwan-based OEMs to ship 21.95 million phones in Q3 2014

While it's across-the-sea neighbor is getting most of the prime-time, with its Samsung and LG getting a very significant market share, also Taiwan has some pretty major manufacturers based in its land, and lately it's starting to get back some attention too.

In the upcoming Q3, Taiwan-based OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) and ODMs (Original Design Manufacturers) are expected to ship a total of 21.95 million handsets, out of which 85% (18.65 million) are smartphones. That's a 4.2% increase from the previous quarter, and a big 32.1% increase from Q3 2013. By Q3, we are talking about the July-September period.

While OEMs ship their own phones, ODMs work will mainly be thanks to orders from Sony Mobile Communications, and feature phone orders by Microsoft.

Out of the companies shipping the phone, you might be familiar with some; while the number one, Chi Mei Communications Systems, is pretty unfamiliar, number two is HTC, Compai Electronics and Arima Communications take third and fourth accordingly, and Asus (Asustek Computer) will grab the fifth.
