Google Android 4.4.4 R2 coming to select devices

Uncharacteristically, Google has posted new factory images for the Realse 2 of Android 4.4.4, and unlike usually, this time its only coming to select markets, which include New Zealand and India.

Yes, that means it doesn’t include all the markets. Now that’s a thing we’ve never seen of Google, as the company tends to do a world-wide release of any new OS it makes. I mean, that’s the point of owning a Nexus device.

However, this time it chose to release those versions in a carrier-specific way, bringing it only to Telstra and 2Degrees in New Zealand and India. Npw, that might be a temporary thing, and the world-wide binaries and factory images might be out by tonight and then we’re all good.

Even if that won’t be the case, you can always just flash your Nexus 5 with the updated images, and then you’ll enjoy the same exact experience as you would had you been an Indian or a New Zealander. We’ll be following up to see if Google has something to say on the subject.
