John Chen, who has been BlackBerry's CEO since November, is currently tasked with turning the company around. While he is hard at work, he also hopes to achieve another thing; sell the company.
While it might sound silly, that the biggest assignment of a just-hired CEO, that was just the reason for firing the previous CEO Thorsten Heins, as it was revealed in his contract as the most important term.
On Monday, at an interview with Bloomberg, Chen was asked whether he has received any offers to purchase the company. Chen replied, saying that while he didn't receive any offers to acquire the company, that is not his current issue, as he is mainly working on turning the company around and perhaps making a comeback to the spotlight.
While he admitted making a full comeback to the spotlight is unrealistic, he is still content on bringing back some glory. So far, it doesn't look like he's been doing a bad job, especially with the Z3's success, To see the full interview, check the video below:
While Chen has already seen success selling companies, such as when h sold Sybase to SAP for $5.8 billion, he will have a difficult time selling to Chinese companies, considering the company's American base. While he might believe in the above mentioned, he would surely be glad to receive any realistic offer for the company, as that would be considered a wild success on his side.
As far as BB news go, the Passport is expected to be released soon, so wait for more details about that to come soon.
