Actually, this new plan by Hilton could make hotel experience a lot better. They plan on enabling a whole bunch of features, that up until now might have been a burden but can now be done simply using your smartphone.
The new plan will change the whole hotel-ordering process, right from the beginning- you no longer need to come to the hotel, only to be told which and what kind of room you got; via your phone, you can see the whole hotel floor-plan, and choose the exact room you want. You can also make customized upgrades, all straight from your smartphone.
Once you get to your hotel, since you already no your room number you don't even have to go to check-in; that's because your phone will be used as a room key (we assume that can be done thanks to NFC). That way you no longer have to carry any sort of room key, nor do you have to pass through check-in/-out, it's all in your phone. Customers will also be able to order room service, all through the dedicated app.
The above mentioned refers to HHonors members, and according to Hilton perform a 'beta' at over 4,000 world-wide hotels, including 11 different Hilto brands, by the end of 2014. It should make a full worldwide roll-out by the end of 2016.
What do you think, impressed?
