Although Android L is still a few months away from commercial
release, Google has already made the development review available for two
devices, the Nexus 5 and the Nexus 7. The new Android version has
also been
unofficially ported to other handsets using the preview release made available
by Google, and the version is available to the Nexus 4 and older Nexus 7
devices.
Up until now, any device which doesn’t include the said ones
above, and wanted to try out the new Android L experience, had to settle in for
a launcher that offered L experience, such as Nova Launcher. Now, HTC One M7
owners can thank Suyash
Srijan a senior member of the
XDA development forums, who has made an Android L port for the HTC One M7.
Albeit it being ported to the M7, owners need to keep in
mind this is very much an ‘alpha’ build. That means many features, including
essential ones such as wi-fi, calling, etc. have minor to major issues in their
performance, and overall the device can be very unstable.
While the developer might improve the stableness over the next
few weeks, it’s very un-recommended to use this build as your daily driver, as
it can really be very un-stable. Instead, you could settle for the said Nova
Launcher. However, if you have a not-in-use HTC One M7, and would like to try
out the Android L experience, feel free to download it and play around.
