LG LG G3 Mini officially announced

So, after we sprayed you with rumors concerning the device for a long time. LG has finally officially confirmed the phone, and released the official specs. So, time to see if we were on with our leaks:

According to LG, this phone is going to be directed at the low-to-mid-range market, “for people who want a great device that’s more compact but still powerful enough to run the most popular apps”. Now, time to see how our rumored specs fared compared to the official ones:

So, the official specs are as follows: The phone will sport a 720p display (1280x720), will house a quad-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 chip paired with 1GB of RAM, and an 8MP back camera paired with 8GB of internal memory with microSD support. Powering all that will be a 2,540mAh battery. Now, here’s what we told you it’ll feature at this post

The LG G3S’s display will only be 1280x720, 2GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal memory, Snapdragon 400, and an 8 MP back camera.

So, it seems we were spot on except for 2GB of RAM being knocked down to 1GB, and internal memory getting only 8, although there is microSD support so you can expand it as you wish.

Here’s LG’s official statement:

“Smartphone manufacturers cannot ignore this growing segment of consumers who want the best balance of looks, features, performance and, of course, price. The LG G3 Beat represents our commitment to the mid-tier smartphone market that demands mature technology, proven branding, great innovation and attractive price, all in a single device,” declared Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company.

The LG G3 mini will be named LG G3 Beat in Asia, and LG G3S in the rest of the world. It will be available for purchase in South Korea beginning on July 18th.
