Since Google has purchased it, Motorola has been building up a
strong reputation of a company who takes its updates seriously, and never leaves
a year-old phone out-of-date, a policy which seems to lay unchanged even in the
post-Google days.
After Lenovo purchased it, many Motorola customers who bought a
Google smartphone and are now left with a Lenovo smartphone were slightly
worried, but it would seems the update trend is continuing, with all the 2013
Droid line getting KitKat.
Now, the
Moto X and the Verizon-version of the Moto G are getting soak test for the latest,
4.4.4 version of KitKat. Users are getting notified by email, and it seems that
if the soak tests are successful, all the customers will get to enjoy the
latest version (technically not, since that would be 4.4.4r2, but let's not be picky)
Now, about
the Lenovo-Google thing, keep in mind that technically it still is a Google
company, and that means that what you’re seeing now is still a by-product of
the Google ownership. It will be interesting how Lenovo handles when it gets
the reigns, and will it leave up to the reputation Motorola has been gathering
in the short period in which Google owned it.
