ZTE ZTE partners with Google to produce phone with Google Experience Launcher

ZTE Blade Vec 4G with GEL
ZTE, a Chinese company which doesn’t get too much attention here since most of its activities are focused in China, in China it has a big audience, and it proved that while selling 52,800 Nubia Z7 handsets in under five minutes.

Now, it seems ZTE is on a new project, and it will apparently pair with Google to put a Google Experience Launcher on the ZTE Blade Vec 4G, out-of-the-box. While that’s a mid-range device, ZTE announced it will also bring the Experience to a premium handset.

This will be the first time a company has put Google Experience Launcher out of the box on a regular phone, since usually they are called “Google Play Editions” or GPE, and the company also releases a non-GPE device with its regular launcher. Now, it seems Google Experience Launcher will be the default choice with the two phones above.

Google Experience Launcher
While anyone can download the GEL launcher from the Play Store, the advantage at putting it on the device by default is obvious- Since usual launchers might consume a lot of storage space and RAM, GEL launcher minimizes all that thanks to its minimalistic Android experience, though making the phone faster and with more available storage. It will also give them the  hands-free hot-word detection that comes with Google Experience Launcher.

Stay tuned, both devices are planned to be unveiled on July 24th. Since ZTE Blade Vec 4G is already available in Europe and China, check a fun video the company made about it:
