Motorola Motorola device appears at FCC

Supposedly leaked Moto X+1
After a few leaked pictures of the Moto X+1 and the web rushing and gushing about it, it seems the current tide of rumors have calmed down, and no new details have surfaced about the device for a while.

However, now something sparked the rumors again: An un-known device has surfaced on the FCC site, with a strange non-letter model number of 4027. The device bares several similarities to what we expect the Moto X+1 to feature:

The handset features a dimensions as follows: 5.87’ diagonal, something that might hint at a 5-5.2’ screen. It’s 2.8’ wide and 5.58’ tall. That seems about right, however some details are refraining us from declaring this as the successor of the Moto X.

One of the features that the X+1 will almost surely feature is LTE, and that’s missing. That’s a big blow to the rumor, however there are several explanations possible for the non-inclusion.

First of all, this might be a prototype, and the eventual phone will indeed sport LTE. However, the FCC mentions it is an identical prototype, so that option is out of the equation.

Another plausible reason is that this is a non-LTE version. Meaning, perhaps Motorola prepared an LTE version for most countries, and a cheaper, non-LTE for emerging markets.

While that might be the case, it’s unlikely, and perhaps what we’re seeing is a brand new, yet-unknown device. Perhaps a bigger Moto G? Guess we’ll wait and find out. Stay tuned!
