In case you
haven’t noticed the pattern, every Wednesday Google tends to update some of its
apps, and now it would seem Chrome is getting treated to an update.
While many of
you might not be getting it exactly on Wednesday (As you can see, I only
notified on Thursday) due to the staged roll-out, it was definitely released
yesterday and you can now know what to expect to get sometime in the next few
days.
So, what have
we gotten here? First of all, we have the usual security fixes and some
additional bug fixes, to improve the overall experience, but as far as actual
new features go, we see the return of Doodles on the new tab page.
The Doodle
means that when you open a new tab, you’ll be greeted by a friendly Doodle. In
addition, you get improved text rendering on sites that aren’t
mobile-supportive.
So, in case
the update is not with you as of yet, grab some patience as Google’s staged
roll-out tends to be somewhat of a bother. Don’t worry, you’ll get it
eventually. Here’s the official update log:
· Improved text rendering on non-mobile optimized
sites.
· Doodles return to the new tabs page.
· Bug fixes, security patches and performance
improvements.
