According to the TENNA website,
which is the Chinese version of the FCC, Gionee is preparing for us the
thinnest phone ever, at a mere 5mm thick- that’s a mere 62% of the Galaxy S5’s
thickness.
However, don’t think the name
of the company comes as a surprise to anyone, or that the previous thinnest
phone will return for revenge- the previous thinnest phone belonged to Gionee
to, and was name Gionee S5.5 at 5.5mm thick.
The phone, which sports a model
name of Gionee GN9005 (the real name will probably have an independent 5 since
they always feature the phone's thickness in its name) , will feature a 4.8’
720x1280 AMOLED screen, housing a quad-core 1.2GHz CPU paired with 2GB of RAM.
Additionally the phone will feature 16GB of storage, back camera of 8MP and a
front 5MP, all powered by a 2,050 mAh battery, running Android 4.3.
We don’t have a release date,
but that’s hardly relevant since it seems unlikely the phone will ever reach
the US. It is interesting for us since thinner phones means that also flagships
can become thinner, and if you really want to know a launch date, then the
TENNA certification means it will come up soon enough.
