Project Ara,
Google’s take on creating a revolutionary smartphone, has been
hanging for a
long time. Already last year rumors started
sprouting about it, and it
wasn't until a few months ago that Google officially confirmed its existence,
and showed off a development board to help developers create module that will
interact with the Ara phone.
Now, it seems
the developer board is about to get to the devs. Google announced a contest,
the winners of which will receive a development board, to help create modules
for the Ara phone. To the average consumer this doesn't mean much, but it’s
certainly is a big deal in the long term, as it probably tells us the launch is
nearing.
You can sign
up for the contest here The last submission date is July 17th,
but if you miss that you get a second chance on August, ending on August 17th.
In addition to receiving a board, the best entry will receive $100,000 and his
module will be featured on the Ara phone.
What do you
think? Are you excited to see the Ara phone, or could you not care less?
